Brock rowing claim two bronze at World Indoor Rowing Championships

MISSISSAUGA - A pair of Brock Badgers men's rowers in Jonathan Cinquina and Christopher Gomez captured bronze medals at the 2023 World Indoor Rowing Championships this past weekend.

The annual event allows for athletes from around the world to link in virtually and compete, while also providing for an in-person experience which the two Badgers competitors attended in Mississauga.

Cinquina, a third-year Social Sciences major, finished third overall in the men's lightweight under-23 category, posting a time of 6:29.1. The veteran rower for the Badgers was just 4.3 second behind the winner from Algeria, and 2.6 seconds back of the silver medalist from Denmark.

Gomez, a second-year Sport Management student, placed third in the men's lightweight under-21 event, clocking a time of 6:36.6. The Brock sophomore finished behind two competitors from Belgium, with the winner setting an impressive standard of 6:13.7.

In addition to the Brock representation at the international event, further offseason activites saw 16 more Badgers rowers spending time in Georgia this past week to complete a winter training camp, while three more traveled to Duncan, BC for a selection camp at the national team training centre.
