The Brock women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 5-2 to the Laurier Golden Hawks at Brock Alumni Field in St. Catharines on Saturday, Sept. 16.<br />

Brock's second-year striker,
Jenna Parris, opened the scoring at 5:30 with an assist from
Irelan Scanlon to give the Badgers an early lead before Laurier responded with a goal from Jyanessa Sealy to tie the match before half.<br />
 <br />
As the second half began, Laurier shifted into high gear. Sophia Messina scored at 51:52, followed by Sealy's second goal at 72:39, extending Laurier's lead to 3-1. Mackenzie Forte added to Laurier's tally at 77:25, with an assist from Noella Grant, putting the score at 4-1 in favor of Laurier.<br />

Brock wasn't ready to give up just yet and
Makenna Williamson managed to score at 89:01 for her first marker of the season.
Cerrina Toromoreno registered an assist to close the gap to 4-2.<br />

Laurier had the final say as Sasha Marikano scored at the 90-minute mark with an assist by Tatiana Boutros, sealing the victory for Laurier.<br />

Bronya Obelnicki, the goalkeeper for Laurier, made crucial saves throughout the game as Brock outshot Laurier 8-4 in the first half.<br />
 <br />
Brock edged Laurier in corners 4-3 although the Golden Hawks outshot the Badgers overall 14-11.<br />

Emma Hendrie showcased her skills in the net with a total of six saves.<br />

Up next, the Badgers (0-1-2) head to Waterloo for a rematch with Wilfrid Laurier University on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 1 p.m.<br />
