Michael Solomon's first goal of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) men's soccer season turned out to be a game-winning goal on Sunday, Sept. 17.
Â
Solomon scored on a penalty kick at the 82
nd minute to lift Brock to a 1-0 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo.
Â
The first half witnessed a fierce battle for field control, yielding shots from both sides but no goals. Brock's goalkeeper,
Taylor Miskolczi, made three crucial saves and picked up his second clean sheet of the campaign.
Â
Brock's defence, led by
Conrad Czarnecki and
Luca Ragagnin, stood firm, frustrating Laurier's attempts to score. Despite late pressure, Laurier couldn't equalize.
Â
Yellow cards were brandished, with Mike Fernandez and
Sebastian Petrilli of Brock and Tristan Greenidge of Laurier being cautioned.
