The Brock men's hockey team continues to remain undefeated on home ice.
Â
The Badgers improved to 10-0 at Canada Games Park with a 5-3 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Â
Third-year centre
Tyler Burnie scored twice to help Brock snap a four-game losing streak and move into first place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West Division, and first in conference, with a record of 15-5.
Â
Jacob Roach contributed a pair of first assists on Burnie's goals and finished with a goal and a total of two helpers. Roach, also a third-year forward, is third in OUA scoring with 14 goals and 21 points in 20 games.
Â
Brock initiated the scoring with a rebound goal by
Justin Brack before Guelph tied the game up with a power-play marker to open the second period.
Â
The seesaw battle continued as Roach found the back of the net, only for Guelph to retaliate with back-to-back goals late in the frame.
Â
In the third, the Badgers scored three consecutive goals, two from Burnie and a lone goal from
Cole Tymkin, to complete the victory.
Â
Brock goaltender
Connor Ungar earned the win in net as the Badgers outshot the Gryphons 29-16.
Â
Tymkin had two assists, while Burnie,
Jonah Boria,
Christophe Cote,
Ryan Stepien and
Zachary Taylor each contributed one.
