Brock came up victorious in their home opener over Nipissing.Â
The Brock Badgers men's hockey team secured all two points with a 4-2 win over the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, Oct. 18 at Canada Games Park. Â
The goals came in bunches for the Badgers as Holden Rogers and Jordan Stock scored the first two goals of the game, followed up by Rylan Thiessen and Cole Tymkin adding a goal each late in the final frame. Â
Brock struck first in the opening period through a shorthanded goal from Rogers before adding a goal early in the second period from Stock.Â
After Nipissing tied things up in the middle frame, Tyson Greenway fed a cross-crease pass to Thiessen, who made no mistake in finding the game-winning goal for Brock. Â
Tymkin's insurance goal iced the game as the fourth-year forward found the back of the empty net from the centre circle. Â
Fourth-year goaltender Samuel Vyletelka had the start between the pipes for the Badgers, saving 26 shots in the victory.Â
The Badgers led in shots with 35 on the night to the Lakers' 28 shots. Â
Brock was perfect on the penalty kill, forcing Nipissing to go 0-3 on the power play.Â
Next, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team hosts the Nipissing Lakers again on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Canada Games Park at 4 p.m. You can follow along on OUA.tv or find your tickets at https://brocku.universitytickets.com.Â
