Brock opened the season with a victory over Guelph.
The Brock Badgers women's basketball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday, Oct. 24 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The win marked Shae Dheensaw's first as head coach of the team.
Madalyn Weinert led the Badgers in points in the contest, with the fourth-year guard scoring 24.
Oluwatito Akinnusi put up 15 rebounds which was a game-high for either side while Angeline Campbell led the way in the assist department for Brock with six.
The Badgers began to pull away from the Gryphons early after Campbell knocked down a jumper to make it 13-6 for the hosts.
With just eight seconds to go in the first half, Weinert from beyond the arc registered a three-pointer which saw Brock up 42-36.
Despite a valiant effort from Guelph to close the gap in the second half, two successful free-throw attempts from Weinert gave Brock an 11-point lead to close out the third quarter.
Not looking back, 18 points in the final frame from Brock sealed the hosts' home opener win.
In the three-pointer department, the Badgers led the way with nine to the Gryphons' five.
Brock's field-goal percentage of 48.6 bested Guelph's 31.7.
