Badgers fall to No. 2 Stingers on Friday night

Brock was defeated by No. 2 Concordia at Canada Games Park.

The Brock Badgers men's hockey team fell to 6-3 to the Stingers on Friday, Nov. 22.

Ryan Stepien, Ethan Sims and Zack Stringer all found the back of the net in the contest while Holden Rodgers recorded a game-high three assists.

Concordia came out strong in the first period putting the Badgers on their back foot and eventually finding a goal just over three minutes into the frame.

Penalty trouble for the Stingers took the pressure off the Badgers and Ethan Sims took advantage, finding the back of the net on the power-play late in the period.

The second period featured a very similar storyline as the previous, as Concordia was putting the pressure on early which resulted in them regaining the lead 13 minutes into the frame.

Yet again, the Stingers discipline found them in trouble and Zack Stringer took full advantage notching his sixth of the year on the two-man advantage to bring the game level again.

The Stingers' offensive pressure paid off in the third period as they struck nine seconds into the frame before notching three more goals in quick succession to extend their lead.

Ryan Stepien scored a late goal for the Badgers but it proved to be only a consolation tally, as the visitors would hold on for the 6-3 victory.

Concordia recorded 33 shots on target in the contest while Brock delivered 21.

Jacob Hoffrogge, Jordan Stock and Cole Tymkin each recorded one assist in the game.

Brock goaltender Will Hambley made 27 saves in the contest.

Up next, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team will have a quick turnaround as they host the Toronto Varsity Blues at Canada Games Park on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. The game will be streamed on OUA.tv and tickets are available at https://brocku.universitytickets.com. The last time these two teams met the Varsity Blues were victorious by a score of 6-3 on Friday, Feb. 9, 2024.
