Brock topples Algoma on Sunday afternoon

The Badgers put on a dominant performance on the road to improve to 7-1 on the season. 

The Brock Badgers women's basketball team beat the Algoma Thunderbirds by a final score of 71-44 on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the George Leach Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. 

Fifth-year guard Angeline Campbell registered a team-high 18 points and had tied for the team lead with seven defensive rebounds in the matchup.  

The 20-16 first-quarter lead was earned by Brock as they fought tooth and nail on the glass to outrebound Algoma by 17-9, and they hit eight of their 29 shots compared to their opponents who went six for 14. Campbell led with seven points in the quarter.

The defence tightened up for the Badgers in the second quarter as they only surrendered nine points, while putting up 21 points of their own to earn a 41-27 lead at halftime.

Campbell lit up the score sheet with her three-point shooting as she knocked down the three shots she took, logging nine of the Badgers' total 21 total third-quarter points.

Brock held a 62-37 lead into the fourth quarter and the scoring dried up as the two teams combined for 16 total points in the final frame.  

The Badgers hit 13 of the 36 three-pointers compared to the Thunderbirds who made good on only four of the 16 they attempted.

Up next, the No. 10 Brock Badgers will travel to Alumni Hall in London to take on the Western Mustangs on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 6:00 p.m. You can follow along on OUA.tv. The Badgers have won the last four meetings between the two teams faced with the most recent on Feb. 3, 2024 with a 65-58 win.
