Brock held on late against Western to secure the victory.
The Brock Badgers women's hockey team bested the Western Mustangs, winning 3-2 on Friday, Nov. 29 at Canada Games Park.
Catriona Cormier and Marin Green got on the scoresheet for Brock as did Avery Diljee with the first-year forward scoring her first Ontario University Athletics (OUA) goal in the win.
Brock struck early in the contest on a power-play goal from Green before Western evened things up before the midway point of the opening frame.
A perfectly placed pass from Rayna Franklin found Cormier as the fifth year forward put the Badgers back in the lead. With just seconds left in the middle frame, a deflection from Diljee extended the host's lead to 3-1.
The Mustangs received multiple late power plays but could only muster one goal in the final minutes, giving Brock a hard-fought win.
Second-year goaltender Ava Cruikshank made 25 saves in the victory.
Madelyn Walsh chipped in offensively from the blueline, recording two assists against the Mustangs.
Western outshot Brock 27-21 in the contest.
Showcasing a strong penalty kill, the Badgers allowed just one power-play goal on five shorthanded attempts.
