Late foul trouble sees the Badgers lose a second straight game.
The Brock Badgers faced off against the Nipissing Lakers at the Robert J Surtees Student Athletic Centre in North Bay on Sunday, Nov. 3 and lost a close matchup by a score of 73-71.Â
Nemanja Sarkanovic led the Badgers in scoring with 17 points while hitting seven of his nine shots from the field but that wasn't enough to carry the Badgers over the finish line. Â Â
The Badgers had a slow first quarter but this quickly flipped in the second as the Badgers went from down one to up six headed into the break on the back of Davante Hackett's nine second-quarter points.
It was a timid third quarter for Brock as they registered 16 points on 33% shooting while Nipissing was firing on all cylinders with five three-pointers in the quarter as part of their 22 points in the frame.
The Badgers surrendered a late shooting foul and the Lakers made no mistake as they drilled two of the three free throws, leaving Brock with no time to make a strong effort at the basket.
Brock struggled from three point distance as they shot a mere 20.8% in the game while the Lakers shot 37.8%.
The turnovers hurt most for the Badgers as they notched 20 in the game to the Lakers' 15.Â
The Badgers entered the matchup with a five-game winning streak over the Nipissing Lakers.Â
Next up for the Badgers, the first of the four-game home stand on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. against the Waterloo Warriors, a matchup the Badgers will want as they last played the Warriors in December of 2023 and suffered a 73-71 loss. The game will be live on OUA.tv.
