Brock defeated Laurier in front of a busy crowd at Canada Games Park.
Â
The Brock Badgers men's hockey team was victorious over the Golden Hawks by a score of 4-2 on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Â
Holden Rogers led the way for the Badgers scoring two goals in the contest while
Christophe Cote contributed one and
Riley Gannon found his first of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season.
Â
The first period saw a slow start from both sides before Rogers was able to break the deadlock, scoring two goals in quick succession with just under five minutes left in the period.
Â
Laurier was able to get one back less than a minute later to cut their deficit, but they still trailed after 20 minutes of play.
Â
The second period featured much of the same, as a slow start from the Badgers quickly picked up thanks to two goals within a minute of each other near the end of the period from Cote and Gannon.
Â
In the final frame, both teams struggled with staying out of the box as the period featured nine penalties. Laurier was the team who was able to capitalize on their man advantage, scoring on the power play just over seven minutes into the period.
Â
That would prove to be the last goal in the game as the Badgers would hold on for the hard-fought victory by a score of 4-2.
Â
Brock had a significant advantage in the shot department, recording 41 to Laurier's 24.
Â
AJ Cook and
Ryan Stepien each recorded two assists in the contest while Gannon,
Matt Duarte and
Jordan Stock all notched one.
Â
Brock goaltender
Samuel Vyletelka made 22 saves in the game to earn his sixth win of the OUA season.Â
Â
Up next, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team will have a quick turnaround as they host the Windsor Lancers on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Canada Games Park. The game will be streamed onÂ
OUA.tv and tickets are available atÂ
