Brock falls in hard-fought contest with Windsor

Brock was bested by Windsor in an overtime thriller to close out the calendar year.

The Brock Badgers men's hockey team fell to the Lancers by a score of 2-1 on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Canada Games Park.

Zack Stringer was the lone goal scorer for Brock in the contest, as he notched his seventh of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season.

Both teams recorded seven shots and had one opportunity on the power play in the first period, but the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes of play.

The Lancers were eventually able to break the deadlock, scoring just over seven minutes into the second period.

Brock had another man advantage opportunity in the frame, but they couldn't create much as Windsor would out shoot them 10 to six in the period.

The Badgers were able to get their offence going early in the third frame as Stringer found himself on the receiving end of a pass from Bradon Caruso and made no mistake, tipping it in to bring the game level.

With the score still even after three periods, the game went to overtime, where Windsor found the winning goal just over three minutes into the frame for the 2-1 victory.

Brock tallied 26 shots in the contest, while Windsor wasn't far behind, recording 25.

Badgers' goaltender Samuel Vyletelka recorded 23 saves in the game.

Up next, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team will have some time off before picking up the regular season again in the new year when they travel to Toronto to take on the TMU Bold on Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:15 p.m. You can catch the action on OUA.tv. These two teams have already met earlier this season on Friday, Nov. 8, when the Bold were victorious by a score of 3-2.
