Badgers remain perfect at home after Saturday shootout win

Brock made it three home wins in three home games to begin this season.

The Brock Badgers women's hockey team earned a comeback shootout win over the Carleton Ravens, winning 3-2 on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Canada Games Park.

Kaedyn Gomes and Allison Stevenson scored for Brock in the contest, with the shootout winner coming from Madison Cronkwright

The opening 20 minutes saw Brock kill off two penalties but still come out on top in the shot department, outshooting Carleton 16-11.

Quickly into the middle frame, the Badgers opened the scoring through Stevenson with the fourth-year forward making a timely rush to the net. However, the Ravens would add two goals before the halfway point of the period to take a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Eight minutes into the third period, Gomes scored a crucial one-timer goal to bring things level, with the goal ultimately sending the game to overtime.

After not finding a winner in overtime, Cronkwright iced the game by scoring on her shootout attempt to secure Brock's third home win in as many games to start the season.

Ava Cruikshank had the start for the Badgers, making 29 saves in the victory.

The Badgers outshot the Ravens 39-31 in the contest.

Next, the Brock Badgers women's hockey team hosts the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at Canada Games Park. Tickets are available at https://brocku.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=2230 or you can watch along on OUA.tv.
