Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Theo Wan

Brock men’s soccer team bested by Marauders

The Brock Badgers men's soccer team travelled to Hamilton for their second game of the year.

Despite some good scoring chances, the Badgers were unable to solve the McMaster Marauders defence and fell to the hosts 2-0 on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Brock's best opportunity came in the 31st minute when Malik Darby fired a shot that required a tough over the head catch by McMaster goalkeeper Ethan Cagalj.

Amir Shirzai scored both goals for the Marauders, notching markers in the 28th minute of the first half and then early in the second at the 53rd minute.

Badgers goaltender Taylor Miskolczi turned away three shots in the loss.

McMaster doubled up Brock 12-6 in total shots and led with six shots on net compared to five from the Badgers.

Cards were handed throughout the contest as each team registered three each. Zain Nizam, Sebastian Petrilli and Gabriel Tardif received yellow cards for the Badgers while the Marauders had Khan Baryal, Refosco Damian and Rashid Mazen notch one yellow card each.

Up next, the Badgers are looking for their first win of the season as they host the Western Mustangs on Friday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. at Alumni Field.
