The No. 8 Brock Badgers women's rugby team hosted the No. 2 Guelph Gryphons in a matchup featuring two nationally ranked teams.
The Gryphons came out victorious by a score of 75-6 on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Alumni Field.
Fourth-year fly half Paige DeNeve led the Badgers in scoring for the third straight game, earning all six points.
After some early pressure from Brock deep in Guelph territory, it was the Gryphons who opened the scoring with a try and successful conversion in the 24th minute.
DeNeve successfully converted her first penalty kick in the 32nd minute reducing the Gryphons lead to 14-3.
The Zephyr, ON product notched her second successful penalty kick of the contest in the 46th minute to bring the Gryphons advantage to 35-3.
Holding a 28-3 lead at the break, Guelph thwarted any comeback attempt from Brock, outscoring the Badgers 47-3 in the second half.
Up next, the Brock Badgers women's rugby team will travel to Peterborough to take on the Trent Excalibur on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m. The last time these two teams played, the Badgers were victorious on the road as they defeated the Excalibur 68-0 on Sept. 15, 2023.
