The Brock Badgers women's soccer team picked up its first win of the year in commanding fashion.
Four goals from Stefanie Young helped Brock come away with a 9-0 victory over Algoma on Sunday, Sept. 15 at Alumni Field.
Young's four goals in a row opened the floodgates for the Badgers in the first half, scoring all four within the first 40 minutes.
The Badgers closed out the game with goals from Sabrina Bisante, Jenna Parris, Maleah Pinkston, Grace Tawil and Cerrina Toromoreno. For Pinkston, it was the third-year defender's first career Ontario University Athletics (OUA) goal.
Bisante and Young registered two assists each whileShannon Brown, Ava Fraga, Zoe Thorsen-Cavers and Amelia Vidakovic picked up an assist each for the Badgers.
Brock notched six goals in the first half and added three goals in the second half.
In goal, Shae Mitchell and Emi Foster split time, with each keeper going 45 minutes.
The Badgers played a flawless defensive game, not allowing a single shot from the Thunderbirds in the contest.
Brock piled on the shots, recording 34 on the day.
Algoma's Samantha Mazzuca was the lone yellow card recipient in the match.
Next, the Brock Badgers women's soccer team heads on the road to face the Guelph Gryphons on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m in Guelph.
