Lucy Lee (Port Perry, ON) of the women's lacrosse team and Liam McKeiver (London, ON) of the men's golf team have been named the Brock University Athletes for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 15.
Lee, a fourth-year midfielder/attack, helped lead the Brock Badgers women's lacrosse team to a thrilling 11-10 victory over the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, Sept. 15. With the Badgers down 10-9 with 1:40 left, Lee scored her first goal of the game. As the clock was winding down and both teams deadlocked, the Psychology major notched her second of the game in what would be the game winner. The goal with 29 seconds left helped Brock break a five-game losing streak against Guelph, with their last victory over the Gryphons taking place on Oct. 17, 2021.
McKeiver, a second-year Brock men's golfer, shot a tournament-best score of 68 to take home the individual crown at the Guelph Fall Kickoff on Friday, Sept. 13. It was an impressive showing for the Business major as he finished two strokes better than last year's Ontario University Athletics (OUA) champion Zach Burt of the Waterloo Warriors. The Badgers also took home the team title in Guelph, besting the Waterloo Warriors, the 2023 OUA team champions, by 15 strokes.
