Badgers compete well in weekend contest against Gryphons

The Brock Badgers women's soccer team came up short in a tight afternoon matchup. 

Brock competed to the final whistle but ultimately fell 2-1 to Guelph on Sunday, Sep. 22 at Alumni Field.  

Cerrina Toromoreno was the Badgers' goal scorer in the contest. 

In the first half, the Gryphons pressed early and took the lead in the 18th minute. 

The Badgers flipped the switch with a goal from Toromoreno who leveled the score at the 40-minute mark. Third-year forward Jenna Parris recorded an assist on the play for Brock.  

Coming out of halftime, Guelph regained the lead in the 47th minute which they would keep for the remainder of the game.

The Gryphons led the shots tally with seven in total and three on goal while the Badgers had three shots with two on goal. 

In her first start of the season, goalkeeper Emi Foster came up with one save in the game. 

Up next, the Badgers travel to Waterloo to take on the Waterloo Warriors in an evening contest on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. Last season, Brock defeated Waterloo 1-0 on the road on Oct. 6, 2023. Sabrina Bisante scored the lone goal in the victory in Waterloo.
