The No. 10 ranked Brock Badgers women's rugby team earned their third win of the season in convincing fashion.
It was a successful road trip for the Badgers as they defeated the host Waterloo Warriors by a commanding score of 89-7 on Sunday, Sept. 29 in Waterloo.
Laura Brown, a fourth-year tight five, had a breakout match, scoring four tries in the contest to lead all scorers.
Not far behind was fellow fourth year Paige DeNeve, who delivered one try and an impressive seven first-half converts.
Brown and DeNeve were involved in two of the first three Badgers' scores as they carried that momentum en route to a dominant 54-7 lead at halftime.
The other Badgers who got involved in the first-half offensive output were Bekah Cyr, Matalyn Lee, Jordyn Pitt and Mia Vandenhoek, who each scored one try each.
In the second half, Olivia Bluhm and Renee Engel scored their first Ontario University Athletics (OUA) tries while Lee, Julia Gregory and Mackenzie Lapierre also found the end zone for the Badgers.
There was one yellow card issued in the match as Brock's Jordyn Pitt received one for a high tackle.
Up next, the Badgers will celebrate their seniors on Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 5 against the Western Mustangs. The ceremony will start shortly before the game, which is set for 3 p.m. The last time these two teams met was in 2019 when the Badgers defeated the Mustangs 55-0 on Sept. 8.
