Badgers defeated in close contest against Warriors

Brock battled hard in a close match at home against Waterloo.

In a well-rounded game, the Brock Badgers women's soccer team was bested at Alumni Field against the Waterloo Warriors by a score of 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 29.

The Warriors came out hot as Aya Naamani potted a goal in the 13th minute for the early lead.

Despite outshooting the Warriors in the first half, the Badgers were held scoreless.

In the second half, the Badgers could not find the back of the net despite the six shots (three on goal) they had.

First-year goalkeeper Emi Foster had a solid outing, recording four saves on five shots on goal.

The Badgers finished the match leading in the shot department with 11 shots with three on target as opposed to the Warriors' eight shots with five on target.

Stefanie Young led Brock with six shots, two being on target, while fourth-year midfielder Brianna Bishop had the Badgers' only other shot on goal.

Brock's Jenna Parris and Waterloo's Emily Henahan each picked up a yellow card in the match.

Up next, the Badgers look to bounce back as they travel to Windsor to take on the Windsor Lancers on Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. Last season, the Badgers fell 2-1 to the Lancers in Windsor on Sept. 24, 2023.
