Badgers drop close contest in London

The Brock Badgers men's soccer team came up short against the Western Mustangs.

A goal from the penalty spot was the difference maker as Brock fell 1-0 to Western on Sunday, Sept. 8 in London.

Calum Morrison recorded three saves in his first start of the season. Morrison was tasked with stopping a shot early, with the Mustangs putting the ball on target in the first minute of the game.

Western midfielder Thomas Ribiero scored for the Mustangs in the 23rd minute from a penalty kick.

Brock's Nicholas Buccianti and Tiago Pereira both picked up a yellow card while Mahmoud Alqahwaji and Thomas Ribiero were the two Western players to receive a yellow card each.

The Mustangs recorded seven shots while Brock had four.

Up next, the Brock Badgers men's soccer team heads home to Alumni Field where they will face the Algoma Thunderbirds on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3:15 p.m. Last season, the Badgers defeated the Thunderbirds twice. 2-0 on Sept. 30 and 4-0 on Oct. 1.
