Brock concluded its back-to-back series against Guelph on Saturday.
The Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell short against the No. 9 nationally ranked Guelph Gryphons, losing 2-1 on Saturday, Jan. 11 at Canada Games Park.
Second-year forward Rayna Franklin scored the Badgers' lone goal in the game.
The opening frame saw some excellent defensive work from the Badgers, limiting the Gryphons to just three shots on goal with two power plays to kill off.
On the second penalty kill, Franklin was able to break free down the middle of the ice before lifting the puck over the Guelph goaltender's shoulder to put Brock up 1-0.
Midway through the second period, Guelph found a groove as they scored two goals in under three minutes, both coming from Maeve Sutherland-Case.
Searching for an equalizer, Brock ran into penalty trouble throughout the third period and could not find a second goal, with the visitors coming away victorious.
Goaltender Ava Cruikshank stopped 21 of 23 shots faced in the contest.
Looking at the shot department, Guelph bested Brock 23-21.
