Brock found a way in overtime on Saturday.
The Brock Badgers women's hockey team came up victorious against the Windsor Lancers with a 4-3 overtime win on Jan. 18 at Canada Games Park.
Allison Stevenson netted the game-winner to the thrill of the Brock faithful in attendance. Jenna Duarte found the back of the net twice, and Madison Cronkwright got on the board as well.
Midway through the first period, Duarte, with a quick drive to the net, was able to beat Lancers netminder Cadence Petitclerc, giving the Badgers a 1-0 advantage through 20 minutes.
In the second frame, Brock continued to push for a second goal. Just over a minute into the period, Cronkwright doubled the Badgers' lead with a power-play marker with assists from Marin Green and Madelyn Walsh.
After Windsor scored its first in under a minute to open the third period, Duarte found her second goal of the night after bursting past the Windsor defence to score on the breakaway. Twice with the net empty late in the third period, Windsor was able to score and send the game to overtime.
In overtime, a diving effort from Stevenson saw the puck raise perfectly over the right shoulder of Petitclerc to give Brock the 4-3 victory.
First-year goaltender Kennedy Lonson made 39 stops on 42 shots in the overtime thriller.
Brock was heavily outshot in the contest, with Windsor controlling this category by a count of 42 to 22.
As part of the Brock Badgers women's hockey 'Pink in the Rink' breast cancer initiative in support of Shoot for the Cure, Sandra Ortolan and Michele Vesprini-Jordan, two breast cancer survivors, dropped ceremonial pucks before the game.
