The Brock Badgers played hard in a close matchup against the Queen's Gaels.
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Brock Badgers went head-to-head with the Queen's Gaels at the Queen's Athletic and Recreation Centre and battled to the final buzzer in a hard-fought 63-59 loss.Â
Angeline Campbell led the game in scoring with 23 points while Madalyn Weinert notched 21 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.Â
The Badgers closed a tight first quarter with a 15-12 lead but held strong, leading for eight minutes and 20 seconds of the opening quarter and not trailing once.Â
Weinert led the Badgers with 12 points at the end of the second quarter as the Badgers held a 29-27 lead over the Gaels.Â
Brock played strong basketball and hit 11 of the 15 first-half free throws. Â
In the third quarter, the Badgers built a strong 48-38 lead on the back of Campbell's 12 points in the quarter. Campbell scored 12 of the 19 total points for the Badgers in the quarter.Â
Queen's took over in the fourth quarter and scored 25 points to Brock's 11 and saw out a close contest.Â
The Badgers hit 21 of 63 shots for 33.3 per cent of their field goal attempts while the Gaels hit 25 of 59 for 42.2 per cent.Â
Up next, the Badgers return home to the Bob Davis Gymnasium for the first of a three-game homestand on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m. against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. The game will be live on OUA.tv.
