Badgers suffer defeat against Thunderwolves

Brock fell in their first game on the road since Jan. 11.

The Brock Badgers men's hockey team dropped their contest 5-2 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday, Jan. 31 at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay.

Despite the loss, Brock currently sits in eighth place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Western Division as they stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Third-year forward Andrew Amousse and second-year defenceman Ryan Thompson netted one goal each for the Badgers.

Lakehead brought the pressure early, striking about a minute into the game, once again at the 3:20 mark and later at 10:32 to take a 3-0 lead in the first period.

The Thunderwolves' offense kept their foot on the gas, scoring a fourth goal.

Eventually, the Badgers found the back of the net late in the frame off the stick of Amousse.

Thompson's late goal for Brock in the third was not enough for the comeback, with Lakehead tallying their fifth of the night as Brock lost 5-2.

The shots on goal were even as both Brock and Lakehead had 24.

Up next, the Brock Badgers men's hockey team will rematch the Lakehead Thunderwolves at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Fort William Gardens. You can follow the action live on OUA.TV.
