Brock had a tough game against a nationally ranked opponent at Canada Games Park.
The Brock Badgers women's hockey team fell 6-0 to the No. 10 Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday, Jan. 31.
Goaltender
Kennedy Lonson made 11 saves in the contest while
Ava Cruikshank turned aside nine shots.
After a back-and-forth start to the game, Laurier found the back of the net just over halfway through the first period.
A late holding penalty against the visitors provided Brock with some offensive opportunities as the Badgers outshot the Golden Hawks 11-9 in the opening frame. Despite these chances, the hosts were unable to find the back of the next through 20 minutes of play.
A flurry of offence from the visitors was in store for the second period as the Golden Hawks would score 24 seconds into the frame.
Laurier's impressive offensive display continued for the remainder of the period as they tallied three more goals to extend their lead to 5-0.
The visitors remained in control for the majority of the third period, outshooting the Badgers 7-3 and adding another goal midway through the frame to see out the game and take it by a score of 6-0.
The Golden Hawks outshot the Badgers 26-20 in the contest.
Up next, the Badgers will have a quick turnaround as they host the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. for their Senior Night at Canada Games Park. This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season, with the first seeing the Ridgebacks victorious by a score of 4-1 on Nov. 23. You can catch the action on
