The Badgers earned a 71-37 dominating win at home to win their fifth straight game. 

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, the Brock Badgers men's basketball team opened the second half of the season at Bob Davis Gymnasium against the York Lions. 

Second-year guard Davanté Hackett led the Badgers with 17 points and five three-pointers in the game, while Ben Herbert was the other Badger to hit double figures with 12 points to go along with stellar defence as he drew four charges. 

Brock came out running as they earned a quick double-digit lead with contributions from seven different players to go up 21-7 after the opening quarter. 

In the second frame, the Badgers sprung offensively as they found the open man and made plays to get the bucket while also excelling defensively to lead 35-9 at halftime. 

The third quarter was no different as the Badgers led 61-18 for a commanding lead with a big contribution from Hackett, who drilled three triples in the frame. 

York started firing offensively to begin the fourth but Brock's big lead was more than enough to give them the win.  

The Badgers finished the game leading the field-goal percentage category with 34.1% as opposed to the Lions' 21.3%. 

Next, Brock will head on the road to Toronto on Sunday, Jan. 12 for a battle against the TMU Bold at Mattamy Athletic Centre at 6 p.m. The last time they matched up, the Badgers came out with a hard-fought 90-89 victory at home at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Jan. 5, 2024.
