Senior Night celebration: Badgers win by largest margin of the season over Thunderwolves

Brock swept the weekend series over Lakehead.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team defeated the Lakehead Thunderwolves 75-41 on Senior Night at Canada Games Park.

Madalyn Weinert fresh off a triple-double from a night ago registered 27 points and 14 rebounds for the double-double. Angeline Campbell recorded 18 points in the victory as well.

Eager to sweep the weekend series, Brock was up by 14 points by the end of the first quarter, with Audrey Ntetani knocking down two long-range attempts in the process to see the Badgers hold a 25-11 lead.

Brock continued to widen the lead in the second quarter, with 11 of the Badgers' 17 points coming from Weinert, which helped Brock have a 42-22 lead at the half.

Heading into the second half, the Badgers did not take their foot off the gas, leading by 25 points after three quarters and at one point leading by as high as 28.

Closing out the game, the Badgers played excellent defence, limiting the Thunderwolves to just eight points in the quarter which helped Brock earn their largest margin victory of the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) regular season so far (34).

Brock was much better in the paint, boasting a field-goal percentage of 40.3 to Lakehead's 27.8 in the contest.

The hosts were nearly perfect from the free-throw line, going 12-13 through four quarters.

Today also marked the start of Black History Month/African Heritage Month and the All for Change games. This February, the Badgers will promote social justice and raise funds for the Black or Indigenous Heritage Student-Athlete (BIHS) bursary, with one dollar from every varsity ticket sold in February going towards the bursary.

Up next, the Brock Badgers women's basketball team will host the TMU Bold on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. at Canada Games Park in what is the team's last home game of the regular season. Tickets can be purchased at https://brocku.universitytickets.com/ and the game will be live on OUA.tv
