Badgers fall to Varsity Blues in tight contest

Brock was edged out on the road.

The Brock Badgers men's basketball team dropped a 73-64 contest against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Goldring Centre.

Fourth-year forward Michael Matas tallied 14 points and six rebounds in the matchup.

The Badgers attempted to battle through the adversity in the first half, but he Varsity Blues went on an 11-0 run, capitalizing on the Badgers' missed opportunities as they led after the second quarter 43-24.

Brock recalibrated after the break and generated an early 9-0 run, outscoring the hosts 19-13 while holding them to a mere 26.3 per cent shooting in the third quarter. Despite the effort, Brock was down 56-43 after 30 minutes.
