The Brock Badgers men's basketball team was defeated by TMU at home.
On Wednesday, Feb. 5, the Badgers took on the TMU Bold at Bob Davis Gymnasium in St. Catharines where they lost 92-73.
Michael Matas led Brock in scoring with 18 points, while Anthony Heyes recorded 11 points and eight assists in the contest.
A quick start from TMU, shooting 6-for-6 and recording eight three-pointers were a big factor in the opening quarter as they led 31-22.
It was a fast-paced second frame that saw the Bold continue to lead thanks to guard Aaron Rhooms who had 21 points as TMU led 52-34 at halftime.
Despite the Badgers scoring more points and having a better field-goal percentage in the third quarter, the Badgers continued to trail 71-55.
The final frame was similar to the previous quarters; every time the Badgers tried to make a run or get a stop, the Bold would counter with timely buckets from Rhooms.
In the field-goal percentage category, TMU led with 52.7 per cent compared to Brock's 43.6 per cent.
Coming up, the Badgers play an afternoon game against the McMaster Marauders on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Burridge Gymnasium in Hamilton at 2 p.m. The previous meeting saw your Badgers pull off a 74-60 comeback victory at Paint the Meridian Red at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines on Jan. 17.
