The Badgers won despite a late flurry from the RMC Paladins.Â
The Brock Badgers men's hockey team edged out a win over RMC by a score of 4-3 on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Constantine Arena in Kingston.Â
Zack Stringer scored two goals against the Paladins and recorded his first multi-goal game in his first Ontario University Athletics (OUA)Â season.Â
Christophe Cote, Zander Stewart each found the net once in the game while Stringer found the net twice for the Badgers in the victory.Â
The Badgers opened the scoring on the back of Cote's first period goal and was quickly followed up with a goal from Stringer on the power play. The gas pedal was held to the floor as Stringer netted his second goal of the game under seven minutes later and the Badgers scored quickly after that on a point shot from Stewart on the power play.Â
Rylan Thiessen notched an assist on the second goal for Stringer and set a career high in points in a season for his OUA career with five.Â
In a back-and-forth second period the Badgers couldn't find twine but kept the Paladins from scoring and held onto a four-goal lead as they entered the third period.Â
The Paladins earned a goal back early in the third period and followed it up seven minutes later with two more goals in just 68 seconds of game time.Â
Brock didn't find the net again but held RMC out as they stopped a late comeback attempt from the hosts.
RMC made it count on the power play and scored on two of the four opportunities compared to two on seven attempts for Brock.Â
The Badgers registered 27 shots to the Paladins' 26.Â
Brock goalie Samuel Vyletelka made the start and 23 saves on 26 shots in the win.Â
