Brock split their weekend series road trip to Kingston.
The Brock Badgers men's hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to the No. 7 Queen's Gaels on Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Memorial Centre.
Currently, the Badgers sit in seventh place with 26 points in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) West division and are fighting for a playoff spot with just two games remaining.
First-year forward Zack Stringer was the Badgers' lone goal scorer, notching his 13th OUAÂ goal of the season and his fourth goal in the last three games. Holden Rogers, a second-year forward, also recorded an assist on the goal, adding to his team-leading 30 points of the season.
Queens opened the scoring 6:43 into the game and added another a little over 5 minutes later to take a 2-0 lead after the opening frame.
Just before the end of the second period, the Badgers cut the Gaels' lead to one when Stringer deflected Rogers' pass into the back of the net on the power play.
With an empty net goal late in the third period, Queens clinched the win 3-1.
Second-year goaltender Will Hambley made 17 saves for the Badgers.
Brock outshot Queens 25-20.
Up next, the Badgers return home to Canada Games Park for a matchup against the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. You can catch the action on OUA.tv. Tickets are also available at brocku.universitytickets.com. These teams last faced each other earlier this season on Nov. 10, 2024 with the Badgers prevailing 6-3.
