The rise of Davanté Hackett this past season has been noticed on the provincial stage.

Hackett, a second-year guard of the Brock men's basketball team, has earned an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Third Team All-Star Selection.

The announcement of the OUA men's basketball award winners and all-stars was made on Thursday, March 6.

"We are extremely proud of Davanté. This is simply an award to recognize all of his hard work and sacrifice during this past offseason," said head coach Willy Manigat. "Davanté made a big jump from his first to second year and we hope to continue to see his growth over the years".

The Brampton product was one of the most effective long-range shooters in Ontario this past season, ranking third in three-point percentage at 44.3 per cent, which was also 12th best in the country. Hackett was not only effective from beyond the arc, ranking 14th in the OUA in field-goal percentage at 48.2 per cent.
