Two Brock men's wrestlers are bringing back some well-earned silver medals. 

Both Cole Coghill and Roger Li along with current Brock women's wrestler Michaela Rankin competed at the 2025 U23 Pan-American Championships in Querétaro, Mexico from Thursday, April 10 to Saturday, April 12. 

Coghill won a silver medal in his first international competition of his career. 

The first-year wrestler bested both of his opponents by technical superiority in round robin competition to advance to the semifinals of the 70-kilogram division. 

The semifinal contest saw Coghill defeat Diego Hernandez Perez of Argentina by fall at 1:52. He then earned a silver medal after dropping the gold medal contest to John Wiley of the United States of America. 

"It was an honour to represent Canada on the international stage for the very first time," Coghill said. "I feel I performed to the best of my ability and look forward to representing my country again one day in the future." 

For the second time Li is an international silver medallist. 

The Windsor, ON product overpowered his Cuban opponent Victor Perez Genere in the semifinals, claiming victory by technical superiority 10-0. 

In the gold medal match, both Li and Lucas Stoddard of the United States of America scored two points before Stoddard won by fall at 1:26. 

"I'm very happy to represent Canada again, but disappointed in bringing home the silver and not the gold. I know I could have performed better in the gold medal match," Li said. "I look forward to redeeming myself at my next international competition this summer."

Rankin was the third Brock Badger wrestler and lone representative from the women's team at the event.

The Sport Management major gained valuable experience in another international tournament, ultimately coming up short in a hard-fought quarterfinal contest in the 62kg division against Santana Garcia of Cuba by points 3-0. 

Garcia would fall by points 4-1 to Astrid Montero Chirinos of Venezuela in the ensuing semifinal match, eliminating Rankin's hopes of going for a bronze medal.
