The Paladins got in the end zone early, scoring the first two tries within the first eight minutes of the match. The Badgers did not waver, responding quickly with two tries from Hoyle and one from Bagshaw to take the lead. Brock did not look back after going down 14-0, scoring 52 unanswered points. Men's Soccer
Friday, Sept. 5: T 1-1 vs. Laurier Golden Hawks | Box Score

The Brock Badgers rallied to pick up a point in their home opener on Friday, earning a 1-1 draw with the Laurier Golden Hawks. Third-year midfielder Lucas Medeiros came up clutch for the Badgers, scoring his first career OUA goal, while first-year defender Ibrahim Ahmat picked up the assist for a memorable beginning to his Brock home debut. In the 34th minute, the two teams exchanged the first of 10 cards for the match, with Brock's Ahmat receiving a yellow and Laurier's Divraj Sandhu collecting a red. This left the Golden Hawks undermanned for the match, but that didn't stop them as defender Alexander Wiktorek struck first in the 57th minute. After falling behind, the Badgers played with urgency, and in the 74th minute, their persistence was rewarded as Medeiros found the back of the net for the equalizer. The Badgers were not satisfied with one goal, putting high-danger scoring chances on target in the 90th and 93rd minute, but two great saves from Golden Hawks goalkeeper David Carano kept the game at a draw. Brock out shot Laurier 11-8 in the match, putting eight on target to Laurier's six.

Sunday, Sept. 7: 4-2 at Laurier Golden Hawks | Box Score

In a rematch of Friday's 1-1 draw, the Badgers showed grit and fortitude against the Laurier Golden Hawks, coming back from being down 2-1 to pick up a 4-2 victory. The hero on the day was Chris Yeboah, who scored the first two OUA goals of his career. Gabriel Tardif also earned a career milestone by earning a goal for the first time in his career. Rounding out the scoring was Tiago Pereira, while Nikola Neskovic now has three wins as Brock's starting goalkeeper. It was a quick start to the game for the Golden Hawks as they scored just two minutes in. Yeboah's goal to tie the match up was quickly nullified by Laurier as they answered just four minutes later. Down 2-1 at halftime, the Badgers fought back with three consecutive goals, with Yeboah and Pereira scoring within two minutes of each other. Tardif sealed the game late as Luca Danesi earned his second assist on the day. The Badgers delivered a commanding second-half performance outshooting the Golden Hawks 5-1 and 8-6 total.

Up next, the Badgers will go on the road to take on the Guelph Gryphons, Friday, Sept. 12 at 8:15 p.m. This will be followed by a return to home soil to host the Beach Ball Brawl against the Waterloo Warriors Sunday, Sept. 14 at 3:15 p.m. at Alumni Field.

Women's Soccer
Friday, Sept. 5: T 1-1 vs. Laurier Golden Hawks | Box Score

Returning home after two wins in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., the Brock Badgers earned a hard fought 1-1 draw with the Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday. Rachel Kane scored her first career OUA goal off an assist from Logan Baumhauer, while Shae Mitchell tallied two saves in the match. The Badgers put the pressure on early with Julia Martins sending a through ball towards Sabrina Bisante, who came inches away from scoring in the second minute. The Golden Hawks opened the scoring minutes later, converting on a chance in the eighth minute. The Badgers continued to keep the Golden Hawks on their heels after Shannon Brown nearly found the back of the net in the 64th minute. The Badgers' patience paid off when a corner kick taken by Bisante eventually found the head of Kane, who evened the scoring in the 70th minute. The Badgers out shot Laurier seven to five while providing pressure to the Laurier zone throughout the game, winning the corner kick battle five to two.

Sunday, Sept. 7: T 0-0 at Laurier Golden Hawks | Box Score

In their second matchup in as many as days, the Badgers and Laurier Golden Hawks settled for another draw, with this most recent matchup resulting in a 0-0 scoreline. Mitchell, a third-year goalkeeper, made four saves to earn her second clean sheet of the season. In the first half, Laurier pressured early, putting up three shots on Mitchell, while Brock did not manage a shot on net. The Badgers were able to finally register a shot on goal late in the second half in the 83rd minute off the foot of Kate Halley. Despite having several subsequent corner kick chances, the Badgers were unable to get past Laurier's Mya Brodrecht. Brock held off Laurier's pressure as they did not concede a goal despite being outshot 12-3 and having to make four saves to just one from their opposition.

Up next, the Badgers travel to Guelph to take on the Guelph Gryphons. The matchup is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. They then return home for their highly-anticipated Beach Ball Brawl theme game against the Waterloo Warriors Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. at Alumni Field.
