The Brock Badgers women's hockey team would not be denied a win in their opening game of the 2026-27 regular season.
Â
Despite having to play catchup for much of the game, the Brock Badgers prevailed with a 3-2 victory on the road against the Carleton Ravens in Ottawa on Friday, Oct. 16.
Â
Carleton scored the game's first goal three and a half minutes after puck drop to take a 1-0 lead. Brock was able to respond, with
Grace Campbell tucking away the Badgers first goal of the season to level the game up heading into the intermission.
Â
The second period followed a similar pattern with the Ravens grabbing a goal in the opening four minutes of the period. The Badgers once again showcased their resilience, with defender
Moi Moi Luu finishing off an
Ellie French assist from behind the goal line to level the game 2-2 after 40 minutes of play.
Â
With their third chance to take the lead to start the period, the Badgers were able to finally grab the period's opening goal as
Rayna Franklin scored the eventual game-winner, tucking in the loose puck after a scramble in front of the net.
Â
Hali Lawrence made 30 saves in the contest to record her first win of the season.
Â
Up next, the Badgers will look to close out their Ottawa road trip with another win as they battle with the Ottawa Gee-Gees for the second game of a back-to-back. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 and can be streamed on
