Cole Cooksey and the Brock Badgers men's hockey team have concluded their weekend road trip in Toronto with a commanding victory.
In an afternoon clash on Sunday, Oct. 18, Brock dismantled the York Lions 7-1, securing their third straight victory of the season.
The first-year forward's hattrick helped open his account for the season, while
Alexandre Blanchard recorded four points and
Tai York chipped in with three assists.
Blanchard got the party started, capitalizing on a York penalty for too many men on the ice
in the opening five minutes of the frame. The Badgers then struck twice to end the period, with Cooksey and veteran
Zack Stringer finding the back of the net in the final four minutes.
The Badgers would not let up after the first intermission, as Cooksey completed his hattrick with two second period strikes to give the Badgers a comfortable 5-0 lead after 40 minutes of play.
In the third period, Stringer added his second goal of the afternoon, while
Parker Forlin's powerplay snipe extended Brock's lead to six, on either side of York's lone goal.
The Badgers were able to punish York's mistakes throughout the game, converting five of eight powerplay opportunities while constantly applying pressure in the Lions' defensive zone.
The Badgers will look to make in four wins in a row in their next game, as they travel back to Canada Games Park to take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. The game can be seen on
