Badgers shutout Lancers to advance to quarter-final

The Brock Badgers women's soccer team are progressing onto the next round of the OUA playoffs.

In the first round of the playoffs, the Badgers fought to secure a cagey 1-0 win over the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday, Oct. 21, under the lights at Alumni Field.

Fourth-year forward Kate Halley's bravery helped Brock take the lead, as she poked home the eventual game winner in the 31st minute off of an assist by Kayleigh DiGirolamo.

The Badgers defensive front stood tall throughout the contest, as Maddy Heeley kept her eighth clean sheet of the season, making five saves to preserve the final result.

Brock showed great character throughout the match after pulling ahead, remaining composed under pressure to protect their narrow advantage and see out their playoff victory in front of their thunderous home crowd.

In the next round of the playoffs, Brock will take on the OUA West Division No. 2 seed York Lions in Toronto. The match is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6:15 pm as the Badgers will look to book their spot in the semi-finals. The game can be seen on OUA.tv.
