Badgers fall to York in a battle for playoff seeding

Travelling to Toronto for their final road game of the season, the Brock Badgers women's soccer team were defeated 1-0 for only their second loss of the year on Friday, Oct. 9.

In a potential playoff preview against the current OUA West No. 2 seed, Brock battled hard throughout the contest, with neither team able to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes.

The Lions were able to capitalize on their first goal-scoring opportunity of the second half, scoring just over a minute after the restart.

The Badgers generated multiple scoring chances in the second half, with Jenna Parris forcing multiple saves from the York goalkeeper, but were unable to find the equalizer.

Despite conceding just her sixth goal of the regular season, goalkeeper Maddy Heeley made six saves throughout the contest to add to the 50 she has made across the year and keep the game tight until the final whistle.

The Badgers will now conclude the regular season at Alumni Field for their Senior Night game against the undefeated Guelph Gryphons. The game is set to kick off on Friday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. and can be seen on OUA.tv.
