Badgers fall to No. 6 Guelph for first loss

Box Score The Brock Badgers women's soccer team have tasted defeat for the first time this season.

Travelling to take on the Guelph Gryphons on Sunday, Sept. 27, the Badgers were unable to overcome their ranked opposition, falling by a score of 3-1.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 13th minute but were not ahead for long, as Lexie Foster finished off a Jenna Parris assist to level the game just seven minutes later.

Guelph struck once more during the opening 45 minutes to take a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

Despite the Badgers battling hard for an equalizer to begin the second half, a third Gryphons goal in the 55th minute ensured the victory for the No. 6 nationally ranked team.

The result marks Brock's first loss of the season, bringing an end to their seven-match unbeaten run to open the regular season.

The Badgers will look to rebound against the Western Mustangs, who will travel to Alumni Field on Friday, Oct. 2 to take on the Badgers in their Kick for the Cure game, in support of Canadian Cancer Society. Kick is scheduled for 6 p.m. and can be seen on OUA.tv.
