Balanced offense leads Brock women's basketball past York 66-34

Box Score TORONTO - The No. 10 ranked Brock University women's basketball team (5-2 OUA West) got back in the win column Friday night on the road as they defeated the York Lions by the score of 66-34.

Brock jumped out to an 18-8 lead after one quarter and led 33-21 at the half. In the third quarter, the Badgers extended their lead to 21 points, 48-27, on route to the 32-point victory.

The Badgers had four starters in double figures led by Andrea Polischuk (Brantford, Ont.) who led all scorers with 17 points while pulling down a season high nine rebounds. Nicole Rosenkranz (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and Samantha De Jong (St. Catharines, Ont.) combined for 25 points and 24 rebounds. Both players recorded a double-double with Rosenkranz adding 14 points and 13 rebounds while DeJong collected 11 points and 11 boards. Kayla Santilli (Brantford, Ont.) chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Nadia Qahwash led the Lions with nine points.

For the game, Brock shot 36.1% (26-for-72) from the field while holding the Lions to just 22.7% (15-for-66). The Badgers were 6-for-25 (24.0%) from beyond the arc and 8-for-12 (66.7%) from the charity stripe. York struggled from downtown shooting a dismal 9.1% (2-for-22) and went just 2-for-6 (33.3%) from the free throw line.

The Badgers return to action Saturday night on the road when they take on the Queen's Gaels at 6pm.
