ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University baseball team (16-4 overall, 11-3 OUA) closed out the regular season series against the defending champion Toronto Varsity Blues with back-to-back victories winning by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 Tuesday night at George Taylor Field. Brock posted a perfect 3-0 record this season versus UofT.
In Game One, Junior southpaw
Johnny Hutton (Ancaster, Ont.)Â went the distance throwing seven complete innings allowing one run on two hits with two strikeouts and three walks. It was Hutton's 11th career victory at Brock moving him into a tie for 8th all-time in career wins with Drew Arnold.
Freshman
Dan Nicoletta (Newmarket, Ont.)Â led the Badgers going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Junior
Ricky Ferri (St. Catharines, Ont.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Phil Steer (Toronto, Ont.) (1-for-3, RBI) and
James Roffey (Guelph, Ont.) (1-for-3) rounded out the offense.
In Game Two, six different Brock pitchers combined for the four-hit shutout. Sophomore
Phil Owen (Richmond Hill, Ont.)Â got the start and gave up two hits over two innings while striking out three for the victory. Closing out the contest with one inning each out of the Badgers bullpen were

Brock returns to action on Wednesday, September 25th as they host the Guelph Gryphons at 7pm at George Taylor Field. The Badgers will then go on the road for three straight doubleheaders versus Durham (Sept. 26), Waterloo (Sept. 28) and Mercyhurst (Sept. 29).
