WINDSOR, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (2-12 OUA West) dropped their fourth straight Saturday afternoon as they lost 110-79 to the No. 10 ranked Windsor Lancers at the St. Denis Centre.
Midway through the first quarter Brock trailed 12-11, before the Lancers went on an 18-0 run over the next five minutes leading 30-11 at the end of 10 minutes. Windsor extended their lead to 23 at the half leading 57-34.
In the final three minutes of the third quarter, Windsor put together a 14-1 run leading 89-49 after thirty minutes. Brock outscored the Lancers 30-21 in the fourth quarter but it was to little to late as Windsor cruised to the 31-point home court victory.
Brock had four starters in double figures led by freshman
Dani Elgadi (Waterloo, Ont.) who registered 23 points and nine rebounds. Senior
Tshing Kasamba (St. Catharines, Ont.) contributed with 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman
Jeremy Angelini (Hamilton, Ont.) and junior
Jay Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.
The Lancers were led by Rotimi Osuntola Jr. who recorded 20 points and five rebounds. Enrico Diloreto added 19 points and five boards while Lien Phillip registered the double-double adding 13 points and 15 rebounds. Rounding out the Windsor leaders were Khalid Abdel-Gabar and Alex Campbell who collected 13 and 10 points respectively.
For the game, Windsor's offense had the hot hand shooting 56.4% (44-for-78) including 53.2% (12-for-23) from beyond the arc. They were just 10-for-19 (52.2%) from the charity stripe. Brock finished the contest shooting 35.2% (25-for-71) from the field, 34.8% (8-for-23) from three-point range and 77.8% (21-for-27) from the free throw line.Â
The Badgers next action is January 24th and 25th at 8:00pm when they host the Lakehead Thunderwolves at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
