ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-1 overall, 0-0 OUA) defeated the Redeemer Royals by the score of 97-75 Saturday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The Badgers jumped out to an early 10-0 lead, and led 50-34 at the half. For the second straight game, the Badgers shot over 50% (7-for-13, 53.8%) from downtown in the second half leading to seven of their 14 three-pointers, on route to the 22-point victory.
Leading the Badgers offense was
Johneil Simpson who finished with a game-high 32 points and 13 rebounds to go along with five assists.
Yusuf Ali contributed with 22 points going 8-for-12 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. He also chipped in with seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.Â
James Jedralski contributed with nine points and four rebounds, while Zach Angelini added seven points and nine rebounds to round out the leaders.Â
Leading the Royals scoring was Calvin Turnbull who registered 18 points and nine rebounds. John Woldue chipped in with 13 points and eight assists, while Josh de Schiffert added nine points and 11 boards.
For the game, the Badgers shot 45.2% (38-for-84) from the field, 45.2% (14-for-31) from three-point land, and 63.6% (7-for-11) from the charity stripe.Redeemer shot 37% from the field going 20-for-54, 26.1% (6-for-23) from beyond the arc and 76.3% (29-for-38) from the free throw line. Brock outrebounded the Royals 50 to 36.
