Box Score MONTREAL - The Brock University men's basketball team (4-2 overall, 0-0 OUA) dropped a 109-70 decision to the defending OUA Champion Ottawa GeeGees in their opening game of the McGill Classic.

The GeeGees jumped out to an early 12-2 lead in the opening three minutes, after knocking down four of their game-high 22 three-pointers. Ottawa led 26-11 after 10 minutes, and put together a 17-2 run to start the second quarter, extending their lead to 43-13.

Brock played a better second half, but the damage was already done against one of the top offensive teams in the country.  

Ottawa had six players in double figures, led by Medhi Tihani, Caleb Agada and Mike L'Africain who all recorded 15 points each. The trio combined for 10-for-12 (83.3%) from beyond the arc. Vikas Gill contributed with 14 points going 4-for-5 from downtown while Johnny Berhanemeskel and Brandon Robinson chipped in with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Leading the Badgers for the third straight game was Johneil Simpson who recorded 19 points and eight rebounds. Matt Marshall added 12 points and nine boards, while Yusuf Ali and Kevin Wilson chipped in with eight points each to round out the leaders.

The GeeGees shot an impressive 75.9% from three-point land going 22-for-29. They were 40-for-65 (61.5%) from the field and 50.0% (7-for-14) from the charity stripe. Brock shot 38.1% (24-for-63) from the field, 37.5% (6-for-16) from long range and 61.5% (16-for-26) from the free throw line.

The Badgers take on the host McGill Redmen Saturday nght at 7pm and the St. Francis Xavier X-Men Sunday at 12 noon.
