Canadian rowers had a great showing at the Commonwealth Regatta in Strathclyde Scotland. Brock University rowers
Katherine Walker and Dave de Groot were on the team of twelve athletes representing Canada while head coach
Peter Somerwil was part of the Canadian coaching staff.
Katherine is the Golden girl as the only Canadian athlete to be a double Gold medalist at the regatta. First Katherine rowed with Jill Moffat in the lightweight women's double to beat England for gold with a comfortable margin. Then Katherine raced the lightweight women's single dash winning by a half a length over England.
Dave raced first in the mens four with Jakub Buczek, Lee hall and Kieran Tierney in a tight race that saw the lead change several times with Canada finishing second for a silver behind England. Then Dave teamed up with Jakub in the men's pair were they raced well winning a bronze medal behind the winners Scotland and second place England.
Katherine and Dave then were part of Canada's mixed eight winning another Bronze medal behind Gold medalists Wales and the silver medalists Scotland.
