
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University baseball team (17-1 overall, 7-1 OUA) had their 16-game win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon as they split a doubleheader against the Western Mustangs. The Mustangs took Game One by the score of 10-0 and Brock answered in Game Two with an 11-2 victory.
In Game One, Western starter Adam Paish was strong going seven complete innings, allowing no runs on three hits with two strikeouts. Reliever Matt Bowden pitched the final two innings allowing no runs on one hit to combine for the shutout victory.
The Badgers collected just four hits.
Justin Gideon went 2-for-4, while
Ricky Ferri and
Dan Nicoletta added one hit each.
Leading the Mustangs were Turner Spears (3-for-5), Taylor Patterson (2-for-4, RBI) and Chris Mireaullt (1-for-4, 3 RBI).
In Game Two, the Badgers offense came alive, scoring six runs in the fourth inning and added five more in the bottom of the sixth, on route to their 17th victory of the season.

Justin Ayles threw his third complete game, going seven strong innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits with five strikeouts.Â
At the plate, Gideon led the way with a two-run single.Â
