
The Brock University men's basketball team (0-0 OUA, 1-1 overall) defeated the Mohawk College Mountaineers by the score of 89-74 Friday night in non-conference action.
"This was a good first win for our guys," said Brock men's basketball head coach
Charles Kissi."We fought until the end. I am proud of our team for showing some toughness tonight. I also give alot of credit to coach Jonkers and Mohawk College. They are going to be a handful in the OCAA this season."
The young Brock squad, made up of 11 newcomers, led by just two points at the half, 38-36, before adding 51 second half points, on route to the 15-point road victory.
Leading the Badgers offense was first year
Johneil Simpson, who led all scorers with a game-high 24 points and five rebounds.
Dani Elgadi, the 2013-14 OUA Rookie of the Year, recorded his 19th career double-double, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Yusuf Ali (11 pts, 4 asts) and
Ryan Flanagan (11 pts) rounded out the Brock scoring leaders.
The Badgers return to action Saturday night on the road when they take on the Niagara College Knights in the 5th Annual Peninsula Hoops Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 8pm at Niagara College. All proceeds from this game go to the United Way.
