ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University baseball team (20-5 overall, 11-2 OUA) picked up their 19th and 20th wins of the season as they swept both ends of a doubleheader against the McMaster Marauders Sunday afternoon at George Taylor Field. The Badgers won Game One by the score of 12-8 and Game Two 2-1.
In Game One, Brock starter
Ryan Beckett (Tiny, Ont.) was solid throwing six complete innings allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Offensively,
Jordan Grant (Mississauga, Ont.) went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base.
Rob Byckowski (Milton, Ont.) also collected three hits going 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.
Justin Gideon (Pickering, Ont.) (2-for-4, two RBI, 2B) and
Dennon Koziol (Hamilton, Ont.) (2-for-3, RBI) both added two hits each in the win.
In Game Two, Brock captain
Ricky Ferri (St. Catharines, Ont.) hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the eighth for the 2-1 victory.
Badgers starter
Jeff Baggaley (Whitby, Ont.) went six innings allowing one run on six hits with three strikeouts. In relief,
Phil Owen (Richmond Hill, Ont.) threw two shutout innings for the victory.
Quinton Twohey (London, Ont.) led the way going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Ferri,
Byckowski, Phil Steer (Toronto, Ont.),
Ben Kirby (Burlington, Ont.) and
Noah Koffman (Richmond Hill, Ont.) all added singles.
