ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - The Brock University mens soccer team (1-5 OUA) lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to the No. 2 ranked McMaster Marauders Sunday afternoon at home.
The Badgers played an even opening half with the score deadlocked at 0-0 after 45 minutes.
Early in the second half, Brock starting goalkeeper
Matthew Zaikos (Markham, Ont.) came up with two key saves to keep it scoreless.Â
It wasn't until the 76th minute that McMaster answered, as they took advantage of a miscommunication in the Brock midfield and had numbers, as Yunus Mollayev beat Zaikos for the eventual game winner.
Zaikos registered six saves in the loss, while Marauders captain Angelo Cavalluzzo collected three saves for his third blank sheet of the season.
Three yellow cards were issued in this contest with Brock's
Eric Bradey (Guelph, Ont.) getting one and McMaster's Marco Gennaccaro and Karl Bicamumpaka getting one each in the final ten minutes of play.
The Badgers return to action next Saturday, September 19th at 3:15pm when they host the No.1 ranked York LIons as part of the 2015 Brock University Homecoming events.
